My name is Delia. I have over 18 years of experience being a Comforter and Birthing partner for women in labour, both at home and in hospital. I am also a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) qualified Midwife. But most importantly, I am a mother.
I truly enjoy helping mothers throughout this precious period of their life. For many mothers it can be a time of mixed feelings, but what we can fail to realise is that each pregnancy is unique to each woman and is a natural process.
This is why I chose the name 'Your Comforter'. It is because I have seen over time how proper support and care helps (throughout this great personal journey) in the development of forbearance, self-discovery, fulfilment and happiness for mothers.
In 1992, I was working as a receptionist when my neighbour and good friend suddenly went into labour. That happened to be my first experience in giving support to a mother at a delivery. The very next day I resigned from my job and never looked back. I knew that this was my calling. From that day to the present I have been blessed to have attended over 800 births. Being able to help and support mothers is not a job for me. It is an opportunity, each and every time, to see God produce life through that mother.
